For FY11 which ended in June, Microsoft posted some impressive numbers. Overall, MS posted 27 billion in operating income and earnings of 2.69/share. Through FY11, MS bought back shares and the total number of outstanding shares declined from 8.9 billion to 8.59 billion.
For Q1 FY12, analysts are expecting 68 cents/share earnings. For the year, the analysts are expecting 2.85/share which should provide support to the share price.
The interesting points to notice will be:
1. Growth/slow down in windows business - impact of iPad 2. Growth in other businesses (server, office) 3. Online business trend 4. Share count
